Newsletter Sneak Peak: Kia Ora Te tiaturi nei matou e koe e katoa mahi pai – Hello, we hope you are all doing well. The weather has been very temperamental this last term; but we did have some lovely sunny days that allowed for lots of outdoor exploration. It was a great time to learn about the changing seasons. We enjoyed a local bush walk and collected leaves, your visiting teacher may have brought some of these out with them on their visits. Playgroup also explored Autumn and made the most of nature with mud kitchen day! On the other extreme we had impressive thunder and lightning storms. This was a great way to introduce early science concepts and extend children’s knowledge on the natural world.
June is always an exciting time of year as we celebrate Matariki. We have had lots of fun teaching the children our Waiata Matariki on our visits and seeing it all come together at our Matariki celebration was great. We were fortunate enough to expose our families to our local culture through a Kapa Haka performance, a Harakeke workshop, our waiata and dance moves to go with it and of course by sharing a Kai Hakari. It was a very special celebration and we would like to thank everyone who participated in it.
